Why is shea nilotica superior to other shea butters? Shea nilotica is superior to West African shea butter in some ways and not so much in other ways. The two butters complement each other for premium skin care maintenance. Shea Nilotica is higher in olein than West African shea butter, and thus it is less waxy. Overtime, West African shea butter can build up a waxy film. Alternating the two decreases this effect. Selling and using both butters for many years, we have noticed that Shea Nilotica is not as healing as West African shea butter. However, it is gentler on the face where we recommend it the most. It also is much easier to spread making it more likely that a person will use it on larger areas of the body more often.
