The coffee is grown in the eastern region of Uganda on the volcanic slopes of Mt. Elgon by the 600 families of the Mirembe Kawomera Cooperative. Its membership consists of Bantu Jews, Christians, and Muslims working together to promote both religious tolerance and economic justice. Such tolerance has become essential after the genocide in Rwanda.
$2.00 from the sale of each package will be donated directly to the "Nyaka School for Children orphaned due to HIV/AIDS" project in rural Uganda, providing free primary education and extracurricular activities to children who have been orphaned due to HIV/AIDS.
Although grown under organic practices, growers of this coffee do not yet have the funds to certify it organic.
Whole Bean, Light Roast: Light roasted to preserve the sugars, this coffee has distinctive floral notes, vanilla undertones and a nutty cashew flavor in the finish.
